Sometimes we have a really huge goal — a goal so important to us that we cannot let it go. We try to force it, try to manifest it, try to do everything in our power to bring it about.
And there might even be some results. We might see some minor progress towards that goal, so we think we’re doing well.
But then things start to go against us. The more impossible the goal seems, the more desperate we feel. But we’re terrified of letting go and just allowing it all to crumble.
But sometimes you have to.
Sometimes you have to let it all fall apart and rebuild from the ground up.
Sometimes you have to admit defeat — to lose the battle — so you can have any hope of going on to win the war.
I had an event like this recently, which I won’t go into here. But I thought I had it all handled. I thought I knew how to make it work.
But I didn’t realize, I had been getting too desperate.
And finally the Universe decided for me. One day I had to just admit defeat — admit that it wasn’t working how I wanted it to.
So I let it go. I let it all crumble and I made a new plan.
It wasn’t the perfect plan I had wanted, but it was what was attainable to me in that moment.
In fact, for a brief time I felt totally abandoned by the Universe and the gods I serve. I felt like something fundamental had gone wrong and I simply didn’t know what, or how to fix it.
But a little while later, now I realize what it was. I was trying too hard. I was using bandaids to cover over a gaping wound. And to make any progress, I had to rip off that bandaid and take care of the problem at its root.
Sometimes the gods serve us most by letting us crash and burn. It’s painful but out of that chaos comes the opportunity for new life. We realize that we weren’t as OK as we thought we were.
It’s OK to let it all fall apart — to even resent the Universe and feel like nothing will work out.
It’s OK to have nothing go our way for a bit, to show us what we’ve really been focusing on and creating.
And it’s OK to need to rebuild from the ground up, because in that rebuilding, we can ensure that it’s done right this time.
If everything’s not OK, then admit that. Fall apart. Stop trying so hard. Let yourself fail, for a time, if that’s what needs to happen.
Because, though it’s trite, every successful person has failed at least once. Some many more than once.
It’s also OK to not have the answers. In fact, you probably won’t, for a while. You have to get comfortable with not knowing.
Then, from where you are now, decide on a new path. Decide on your next step.
As you just take a single step, in any direction, your natural guidance will start to kick in. The Universe will nudge you, give you hints and signs showing you the way.
Just take that first step and the rest will take care of itself.
