How I Broke a Cuckoo Clock Using Magick

So it was Friday night. Our cat, Snuggles, was doing his usual thing of being extremely hyper.

Now we had a cuckoo clock hanging on the wall next to the sofa. Snuggles when he was hyper, often liked to stand on the sofa and bat at the little chains hanging down from the clock. It was pretty irritating, and we were afraid that he would knock it down, so we got it moved to another location.

Except that new location was only a few feet away from where I usually sit, and Friday night, the ticking was getting on my nerves. I tried to deal with it, and through letting go, I made a sort of peace with the clock. But I’ll admit I did have the thought, “I wish we could just be rid of this clock.” It was a gift to us from Christine’s mother three years ago, and sometimes I just found it annoying. Christine enjoyed it far more than I did.

So finally I decided to move it to one final location, as far away from me as possible, and still somewhere I thought the cat couldn’t get to it. Crisis averted, so I thought.

A few hours pass in relative peace, when all of a sudden there was a loud “boom” and the clock tumbled to the floor. I went and checked on it and it was pretty well broken. There was no way it could be hung up again.

Immediately I had this sort of feeling that I had caused it. I did, after all, have the thought that I’d rather be rid of the clock. And, I even released that thought so I was no longer attached to the idea.

And that, as I called it a few days ago, is natural magick. It is the expression of a slight preference, free of attachment but still with will behind it. “I’m not attached to this idea, but if I had it my way, this is what would happen.”

That sort of effortless natural magick is, in my opinion, the most powerful of all. And I’m 100% convinced that it was responsible for that cuckoo clock breaking on Friday.
