First of all, I just want to say thanks! I took a bit of a break for a few days for personal reasons, and in that time received several emails from those who said they missed my daily posts. That meant a lot and I really appreciate it.
Anyway, today I want to talk about decisions.
See, it’s all too easy to go through life as a victim—at the whim of a seemingly uncaring Universe. You become a reactor to life—just reacting to whatever life brings your way.
But this isn’t how you were meant to live. You have immense creative potential, likely far more than you can imagine. And when you give that up in favor of just being buffeted by the winds of life, well, you are missing out on a lot.
The first step to taking creative control is simply this: to start making decisions.
Now I’ve had people ask me before, “How can I make a decision when I feel like it’s not really my choice?”
But, see, it is your choice. If it doesn’t seem like that, it’s just because of your own practiced habit of reacting to life, and your own resistance to the things you want.
Making a decision doesn’t mean taking action. In fact taking action is almost always the wrong approach when you’re at the place of just making the decision.
Making a decision means just that: just deciding for yourself that you want whatever it is you want.
Why is this so powerful?
Because the forces of the Universe respond to such a decision. They immediately go out and start creating the thing you’ve decided to create.
Before Christine and I moved this year, there were several times where we thought about moving, but never quite committed to it. And as such, nothing really ever resulted from such a non-decision.
But finally we made the decision to move, and almost immediately the Universe started lining up the perfect opportunities for us. We had found the house we wanted to move into within just a week or two of making that decision, and everything fell into alignment just as easily.
Deciding doesn’t have to be some momentous occasion. It can be as simple as, “I’d like to have X.”
Start making even small decisions. “I want to have an enjoyable day.” “I’d like to have a productive meeting with X.” You get the point. You have near infinite chances to make decisions throughout your everyday life.
This act of taking control of your life is the start to what I call the “Dark Ascent”—your path to mastery over your reality.
