In life, we’re used to being roughly at the same level we’ve always been. We work pretty much the same kind of job, get about the same amount of salary, have roughly the same net worth, have about the same kind of friends, etc.
I’ve previously called this your point of homeostasis, colloquially referred to as your “comfort zone”.
Essentially, it’s the point in life at which you are comfortable. It’s the identity you hold, as it applies to various aspects of your life.
In short, it’s your vibration, on these various aspects, and in general.
But what if you had vibrational mobility? What if you could change your vibration to set it at any point you chose, and by doing so, could very quickly get different results in life?
What if the only thing differentiating you from the millionaires, successful business owners, thriving employees, fulfilled creatives, and so forth, was where you chose to set your vibration?
More on the Comfort Zone
Have you ever stopped and asked yourself why every part of your life isn’t exactly as you’d like it to be? Why you may not enjoy your job, or make as much money as you’d like, or not be in the relationship you’d like?
I’ve often said that I feel as though LOA practitioners underestimate the power they can wield. People use it for that one big desire they have—perhaps to get that one job they want, or to be with that person they want to be with.
But in the grand scheme of things, the desire isn’t really all that big. Many people get new jobs every day, and many people find wonderful, long-lasting relationships.
I think the reason is that it is hard to think outside of our comfort zone. It’s hard to test the limits of our own magic and see what we are capable of.
I often think of that quote from Lester Levenson, which goes (paraphrased): “The only reason you don’t get big things, is because you aren’t thinking big enough.”
For example, if you’re making $50K per year, why aren’t you making more? Why aren’t you making $100K, or $200K?
Is it because you don’t want to? I doubt it. Sometimes we tell ourselves that to soothe the real reasons beneath it all. But few people I’ve met would truly refuse more income, and those who would probably have some limiting beliefs around abundance anyway.
No, it’s largely because you believe you can’t. It’s because $50K (or insert your income here) is your comfort zone, so going too far outside of that is disconcerting and uncomfortable.
It’s because the type of person it takes to make $100K is totally different from the type of person it takes to make $50K. It takes a different mindset, a different vibration, a different set of beliefs altogether.
Nearly two years ago I set out on a journey to increase my income. I started out living under the poverty line, getting around $17K per year. After just 6 months of intense manifesting, I had increased that to roughly $55K, more than a three-fold increase.
I settled at that level for around a year, before the desire for the next level really took hold and another round of intense manifesting, this time only 3 months, got me to where I am today, which is roughly $100K, nearly double what it was before, and almost 6 times where I started two years ago.
Now to some people, this amount will still seem low, especially if you live in a high cost of living area. To others, it’ll seem high.
In the past I’ve been reticent to share exact numbers, partly because I didn’t want those numbers to distract from the point, and partly because I wasn’t super happy where I was. I know even now that there are lots of people making more, but for me, this has been a wonderful increase.
But the point is, for many years I lived below the poverty line, just depending on SSI to get me through. That was my comfort zone. I didn’t think I could do better. After all, over 70% of blind people in the US do not have full-time employment, and 29% live under the poverty line (source).
But one day I got tired of it and climbed my way out, and then climbed even higher. And yes, I plan on climbing even higher still, not because I need to, but because I enjoy the challenge.
We are in prisons of our own design, and it’s a rare individual who will test those bars. But those who do, will realize that the prison is imaginary, and they are free to create anything they could possibly desire.
What Vibration Means
Vibration is often conflated with emotion, and in a real sense this isn’t necessarily an inaccurate equivalency. However, it does provide an incomplete picture.
I like to describe vibration as a series of steps, not just as one spectrum from negative to positive.
For example, here are some questions to consider:
- If you make $50K per year, does it mean that you’re less happy (have a lower vibration) than the person making $100K?
- Is a millionaire necessarily happier than the person making $100K?
- Is a billionaire necessarily happier than a millionaire?
- If you have a job with great benefits and plenty of money building up in your 401(k), does it guarantee that you’re happy?
- If you’re in a low-end job with few to no benefits and paying very little, does it guarantee that you’re unhappy?
- Is it possible to have lots of money, good health, and a great relationship, and yet still be unhappy?
We’re told that if we just become happier, the money will automatically increase, our health will get better, we’ll meet the person of our dreams, etc. But in your real-world experience, is that true? In my experience, it is not.
My experience is that vibration is a whole lot more about your identity than it is about your emotion.
If you see vibration as a series of steps, or levels, and each step as a spectrum from negative to positive, this to me would be far more accurate.
In this view, each step/level would be traversed by changing your identity, but your life experience at that level would be controlled through your emotions.
Therefore, though the person making $100K may not be necessarily happier than the person making $50K, that person does have a different identity. They may in fact be less happy (though not necessarily of course), but their set of beliefs and expectations is totally different than the person making less.
The way I see it, I increased two vibrational levels over the past two years. However, after I had moved up to the first level and was working for the first company I worked for, there were times when I was far less happy than before I had taken that step. It triggered things in me that I had to work through in order to regain my happiness. So at one point, I was indeed making more money and yet less happy than before.
Now I’ve reached the second level, and while I do feel happier, it’s not necessarily twice as much as before, and there are still issues that crop up due to my own limiting beliefs. Though, that has more to do with me acclimating to this new level.
So if this is true, then what is the point of emotion?
Positive emotion, a.k.a. “feeling good”, smoothes out your experience at whichever vibrational step you are on. Life becomes more magical. More synchronicities come your way. You experience the Universe supporting you in greater and greater ways.
But, it’s all at the current vibrational step, defined by your comfort zone and your set of beliefs and expectations, which outline what you can comfortably experience at your level.
Increasing Your Vibrational Mobility
As I said earlier in the post, most people never even try to get to the next level, largely not because they wouldn’t like to, but simply because the current step is so convincing as “reality” that they don’t even think to.
But let’s zoom out a bit and see what might be possible.
What Is It You Want?
What are some things that you’ve told yourself you could never do, because it was too expensive, or you weren’t good enough, or it just took too much work?
Or, what are some things that you never even thought of doing? What are other people doing or experiencing that you’d love to do or experience yourself?
Notice all the excuses of why this just can’t happen to you. Notice them, and realize that these excuses are the imaginary bars you’ve been allowing to imprison you up to this point.
But those excuses are just that: imaginary. They are thoughts, beliefs, and expectations, contained solely in your own head. They almost never have any actual reality to them. And even if it seems like they might, that’s before you apply the law of attraction to the situation, which can change anything for the better.
So let’s not just think about that next better-paying job, that trip you’d like to take, the dream house you’d like to own, etc.
The sky’s the limit. What do you want?
Perhaps you don’t know right now. It’s not a question we frequently ask ourselves. But at least meditate on this question and see what comes up. Meditate on the limitless nature of your life, and see what desires come to the forefront.
Make Your Goal Feel Ordinary
Now if this desire seems big to you, it means that it is on a higher vibrational step. This means, too, that just feeling good is very likely not going to get you there.
What will get you there is to change your identity. Change your beliefs and expectations about what is possible.
So here is the question to ask yourself: “What type of person does it take to have what I want?”
You don’t have to be super specific about this at first. Just get a general idea of what type of person would achieve your goal. How would they think? What would feel ordinary to them? What would they believe about life?
For example, at my first job, I got paid $2,700 per month, plus income from Co-Creation Coaching and a part-time job my wife still holds. Compared to our old SSI checks of $1,100, this seemed huge, at first.
Until it didn’t. After only a couple of months at that job, I negotiated a raise to $3,300 per month. That, too, seemed big, for a while longer.
Eventually, it just became normal. Having $3,000 in our checking account at the end of the month was the norm. I no longer worried about how we would pay the bills. So what once seemed huge to me, quickly became ordinary.
Now, another year later, we get double that. I commented to Christine the other day how the numbers are starting to lose their meaning. There’s $x in this account, $y in that account, $z in yet another account. And, it’s just all numbers. It doesn’t feel big or small or anything else: just, meaningless numbers.
And there are plenty more levels yet to come. Do you think a millionaire thinks $1M is big? Not if he has enough of them. But, $1M would still be big to me.
I’m using money examples, but as I’ve been showing throughout this post, it works for anything.
My point is that what feels big now, will feel normal once you actually have it. This understanding is key to manifesting “big” manifestations. If you can make it feel normal, you’re most of the way there.
Decide to Have Your Goal
The next thing to do is simply to decide on having your goal. No matter how long it takes, you will continue to choose to have it, until one day it finally happens.
What? Just decide, and it’s yours?
Yes. The will is a wonderful thing. Life bends to the will, but so few people ever actually use this faculty.
Decide on what you want, and it is yours. Creation is that simple.
You choose that goal on a daily basis. Determine if there’s anything you can do today that would bring you closer to that goal. If so, then take that action. But regardless, choose that goal again and again. Feel that choice within yourself. Notice how you don’t have it yet, but that’s OK. Your choice will draw you forward until you’ve reached it.
As you make that decision over and over again, it will have a real effect on your subconscious mind. Your subconscious, knowing that you’ve chosen this goal, will bring up all the things that are blocking you from having it—all the beliefs, expectations, and more, that tell you you can’t have this goal right now.
And your task, very simply, is to acknowledge what comes up, and choose your goal anyway. No matter what horrible things your subconscious mind presents, you just keep choosing your goal.
And gradually, you will become the person who can have that goal. Your continual focus on and decision of the goal has transformed you from the inside out, and now the goal can simply fall into your lap.
Your Life Is In Your Hands
This is infinite vibrational mobility. You aren’t restricted to the vibrational spectrum of your current level. If you never use your will to choose the next step, then indeed you will remain here indefinitely. But with this knowledge, all things are possible.
Discover what you want, work to make it ordinary, and choose it over and over again. That’s how you achieve any “big” goal.
Or in other words, create the desired vision of your future, and choose to have it. Build the life you want. There are no limits.

This is great. I read Neville Goddard and he talks about the self-concept; you create with I AM. You’re reborn with a new identity that matches what you desire. He distinguished feeling from emotion too. Feeling is more about the state of being.
I suppose the often recommended visualization is about making it feel ordinary to you. Curious about any other ways to create the feeling of something being ordinary…?
Thanks for your comment!
I think making it ordinary isn’t so much about what you visualize. I actually do very little visualizing. It’s about constant exposure to the idea of what you want. The goal will seem big the first time you think about it, but after the 100th time, it doesn’t seem so huge.
But I’d suggest just thinking about what your life would be like once you’ve achieved that goal. Not just all the wonderful things, because after all those will not seem so important after a while. But just your ordinary, mundane life. Going to work every day, paying the bills, etc. Small things might change once you have your goal, but not everything.
So what will a normal day look like?
One thing I personally do when the goal is income-based is just to budget it out. What will I use this extra money for? I’ll save this much, and perhaps put that much towards a nice vacation. But once it’s all split up into various categories, it doesn’t seem like so much money anymore.
I hope that helps.
My goals don’t seem big to me. They might to other people but I never have a feeling of impossibility once I define a desire. Rather I seem to think it’s very possible and something I can naturally expect, but then it doesn’t happen. I’ve already done and do what you suggested and it hasn’t changed anything. I don’t see the difference between that and visualizing anyway which is just imagining the end and seeing yourself and your life as if you had it.
I get a “bridge of events” starting aka the beginning of a process that seems to lead to what I desire, but then it collapses. This has happened so many times it’s an undeniable pattern and yet I don’t see anything in my mind to cause it.
By visualizing to make it normal I mean the Neville Goddard technique of feeling like you’re in the end so that if doesn’t feel far off or too big. You do this through visualization every night and also feeling the corresponding state throughout the day. I live the end result so much that even when it collapses it doesn’t seem to affect me. I have brief disappointment and then just shift back by default to my usual emotionally balanced and positive state. I still think it’s happening… but now I’m starting to think I was being naive.
I’m now thinking life is random now and you don’t manifest anything other than your own mental state.
Great post Brandon, it makes a lot of sense.
Thanks so much! I’m glad you enjoyed it.
