Are you setting real, achievable goals, and taking the steps to manifest them? Are you specific about the things you’d like to achieve in your life?
If not, you’re not really allowing the law of attraction to work its full potential for you.
While it’s not for everyone, setting monthly goals can be a powerful way to keep moving forward with your manifestations. If you achieve those monthly goals, then it’s also a great way of increasing your confidence in the law of attraction, and in your ability to successfully apply it to your life.
Why Set Monthly Goals?
For some people, monthly goals are too stressful. It keeps them from really being able to feel good about their manifestation.
I get that. For the longest time, I was the same way. There’s no doubt that this may be a more advanced technique, but it’s one that pays off.
But why might you want to think about setting monthly goals?
1. It Helps You Decide on a Definitive Goal
First of all, it’s practical and realistic. Many times when people are choosing their manifestation, they tend to waffle about what exactly they want their goal to be. We had a good discussion about this in <a href=”Tuesday night’s Spiritual Freedom Support Call.
You might say, “Well I want $500. Well, no, maybe I need more like $750. But then there’s that other thing I want…” and the cycle continues. You can’t decide on one goal, and stick with it.
A monthly goal forces you to make up your mind. This is your goal for this month. Next month, you can set a higher goal.
I’m speaking mostly about financial goals here. Of course, it can work for anything, as long as you think that a month timeline is sufficient for you.
So, when you set a monthly goal, you decide, “I think I’d like to manifest $2,500 in income this month.” That’s your goal. You don’t change it a million times, but stick with it to the end.
Next month, you might set a goal of $3,000, or even $2,750. That’s your choice. But for this month, it’s $2,500.
Does this have to be your only goal for the month? No, of course not. But, it gets you moving towards what you want, at least, and that’s the power of this technique.
2. It Builds Confidence in Your Manifesting Ability
A second reason you might want to set a monthly goal is to build your confidence, as I hinted at earlier.
Imagine you set that $2,500 goal. Prior to the end of the month, you achieve that goal, and maybe even surpass it.
Next month, you’re going to be more confident of your abilities. In the beginning, maybe $2,500 seemed like a stretch. But, you did it, and you start to believe that if you can do that, then you can do something even higher.
So again, maybe you do $3,000 for the next month. And if you achieve that, then you’ll build even more confidence.
It’s a self-perpetuating cycle of greater and greater abundance, stemming from your increased confidence in your ability to use the law of attraction.
This happened to me recently. Last month, I decided to set a monthly goal. I realized that I became a bit complacent any time I felt like I had made enough money. But, I wanted to go to the next level of abundance.
So, I set a goal that was believable, and yet a bit of a stretch for me.
I’ll admit, at first I was pretty nervous about the goal. It was pressure. And because of that, throughout about 2/3 of the month, I hadn’t really come close to the goal.
But in the final 10 days, something shifted for me. I simply decided that I would achieve this goal.
I’m not joking when I say that literally within an hour of making that decision, I started making serious progress towards that goal.
By the end of the month, I had even surpassed the goal by over 15%!
Now, I had increased confidence that I could do it again. This month’s goal is even higher. I already notice a difference in my outlook on my financial situation. I’m far more secure in the knowledge that I can easily manifest abundance.
As I said, things were already fine even before this challenge. But, I wanted to be a lot more than just fine. The vibration of “enough” vs. “a lot more than enough” is completely different. I wanted to step into this higher vibration, and setting my goal last month helped me to do so.
What If You Fail to Achieve Your Goal?
I know that immediately once I talk about setting a specific goal, someone will ask, “What if I don’t achieve it?”
Firstly, try your best not to even have that mentality. Failing is not an option. Decide on your path, and go for it.
But, it’s still a valid question.
So, what if you set this great goal, but despite all your best efforts, you just don’t reach it?
There’s an expression that, albeit a little cliche, is well-fitting:
“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.” ~ Norman Vincent Peale
Essentially, even if you don’t reach your goal, my guess is that you’re still going to do a lot better than you would have had you not set the goal.
So maybe you’re a bit short of the goal. So? Celebrate the success you did manifest, even if it wasn’t quite what you wanted it to be. It’s all about focusing on the wanted aspects of the situation, not the unwanted.
But, even still, what if it was such a mess that you didn’t see any improvement at all, or things even got worse?
This is extraordinarily unlikely, unless you have a great deal of resistance.
I will guarantee you that as you set this goal, it will bring up your resistance in big ways. The bigger the goal, the bigger the resistance it’ll trigger in you.
That’s actually good news, though. Now you know what’s blocking your way better than you probably ever have before.
I had lots of resistance come up as I was working towards my goal. But, I knew that it was just the energy that had to be released for me to manifest my desire. So, I released it, and moved forward.
I know it’s not always that easy. If you find yourself running into massive resistance, you have a few choices:
- Reduce the goal. Chances are that if you’re meeting with so much resistance, you probably set your goal too high. Try reducing it and see if that helps.
- If the resistance is significant no matter how big the goal, then do your best to release it. If that fails, be easy on yourself, and acknowledge even small successes. Resistance is actually good news, and is a sign that you’re on the path to your manifestation.
How to Set a Monthly Goal
So, you’ve decided you’d like to give it a try. And, it’s only the 3rd of the month, so this is the perfect time to put this plan into effect! But, how do you go about setting your goal?
Your goal requires these three qualities to increase your chances of success. It must be:
- Inspiring
- Believable
- Challenging
Let’s take these one at a time:
Inspiring
Your goal needs to be inspiring to you.
Why do you want it? What will you be able to achieve once you have it?
For example, if you want to increase your monthly income by 10%, what will you do with that extra money? Maybe you want to save up for a vacation, or buy something nice for yourself.
If you’re not really excited about what you can do with that goal, then you’re simply not going to be motivated to achieve it.
For instance, if all you want to do with the extra money is to pay down debt, that might not be the most motivating. You might enjoy the future vision of being debt-free, but it is rather abstract and long-term.
So, ensure that at least part of your gains are used for yourself.
A feeling of excitement will help you to keep your focus on the wanted, as well. When you have something to look forward to, you’ll be much more likely to think about the positive aspects, rather than the difficulty of reaching that goal.
Believable
Your goal should also be believable. You don’t want to try to increase your income by 50%, for instance, unless you have a really good reason for believing that this is possible for you.
Yes, you can manifest anything. But, it’s going to be a lot more stressful to manifest something that feels big to you, rather than something that is believable to you.
Also, as I said above, the bigger the goal, the more resistance it will trigger. If you’re a pro at releasing resistance, then you might be able to set a bigger goal. But if it is difficult for you, then you might want to start small.
The key is that with each success, what is “believable” is going to get bigger and bigger. Do you think that even the richest billionaires would believe a billion dollars was possible from the start? No, for many of them, they had to work up to that level.
So, if today what is believable is an increase of 10%, just imagine even if that grows by 10% every month. If your base monthly amount was $2,500, and you were somehow able to manifest just 10% more every month, within a year you would have increased that amount by over 250%.
It’s all about small steps. As the Chinese proverb has it, a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
So take your single step by setting a small, believable goal for this month. Then build on that secure foundation month-after-month. Pretty soon, you won’t be able to believe where you’ve ended up.
Challenging
Your goal should also be moderately challenging. While it might seem like a contradiction to the above, it really is not.
A believable goal will help you to achieve it with little resistance. But, a challenging goal will also help you to grow confidence in your ability.
The criteria I give to my clients is that their goal should be believable, but still a bit of a stretch.
If your goal is, for instance, only $100 more than usual, that might not inspire much confidence. You might put it down to coincidence.
But, if you set a goal that is significant to you, and yet believable, then you’ll be able to see the Universe move to make your manifestation possible. You’ll be able to see how life changes, day-by-day, because of your new goal.
This is especially the case if you can’t really see how the Universe might make it happen. I’m always fascinated by how the Universe works everything out, even when I don’t personally see a way. But, every time, it all works out perfectly—almost magically.
Last month, I increased the challenge for myself. I had the option of paying a bit extra for a certain bill. It made me nervous, because I knew if I paid it, I’d certainly need the extra amount to offset the expense.
But, I just intuitively felt like I needed to do it. So, trusting the Universe would make it work, I went ahead and paid the extra expense.
And, it did work out beautifully, as I’ve said.
So, it’s okay, and even preferable, if you’re a bit nervous about your goal. That means it’s worthwhile. It’s something that will be fun to line up with and manifest. Otherwise, wouldn’t it just be boring?
How to Achieve Your Monthly Goal
Now that you have your goal, how do you go about achieving it?
Well, the steps are the same for any other manifestation. There’s my three-step Effortless Manifestation Process I’ve taught from the start, or the updated five-step process I gave in my recent class.
But, let’s just explore some of the specifics:
You have your goal. The most important thing you’ll want to do is to visualize yourself having achieved your goal at the end of the month. If visualization isn’t your thing, then have a simple affirmation, like, “I intend that my total income this month is $X.”
Either way, let that be your goal representation, which makes you feel good every time you think about it.
Do this at least once a day. Focus on your visualization, or repeat your affirmation internally, and match it up with the emotion of having achieved your goal. Feel it as though it is already true.
Then, let it go. Don’t try to figure out how to make it happen. Just let the Universe get on it. Remember, that’s not your job.
That part is easy. But, you will experience resistance. If there weren’t resistance, you’d have your goal already.
This is where the rubber really meets the road, so to speak. You have to hold that inner vision, and filter your reality to match that vision, as I mentioned in Monday’s post.
Remember that this resistance is just telling you that you have some inner blockages to your goal. It’s not the Universe saying “no” to your goal. It’s really you saying “no” to your goal, by focusing on the unwanted.
Once the resistance is released, your manifestation will come. There will be nothing else holding it away, so it must come.
So, don’t let your resistance hold power over you. Simply let it go and refocus on your inner vision.
As you do so, you’ll start to see the Universe moving in accordance with your new vibration. You’ll start to see outer reality shift, and your goal will appear more and more possible to you.
That’s when you’re really in the home stretch. Just be sure that whenever you think of the goal, you feel good about it. If you don’t, then drop that resistance and move towards your inner vision, instead. The more you do this, the more your subconscious mind will get the hint that this goal is good, and should be pursued. Then, it won’t be long at all before you see it fully manifested in your reality.
I’ll be expanding on these ideas, plus many, many more, in my upcoming teleclass, Effortless Money Manifestation.
This is the key to manifesting true abundance. If you feel stuck financially, or would simply like to take your abundance vibration to the next level, this class will give you all the tools you’ll need to boost your money manifestations.
Unfortunately, you only have until the morning of Saturday, November 5 to sign up. I wanted to get this class in before Thanksgiving, so we’re starting it at a bit of short notice.

How About You?
Now it’s your turn. As I said, I get that monthly goals might not be for everyone. But, have you tried them yourself? If so, what’s been your experience. Or if not, do you plan on setting a monthly goal for the first time? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.

This idea of monthly goals sounds really interesting! I really like how you put those 3 criteria for choosing those goals: goals that are inspiring, believable and challenging. However, I need your advice on this.
Lately, I’ve been doing like this. About 15 minutes before I go to choose what I’m gonna eat, and actually eat, I intend great health, energy, concentration, strength, muscular body, and enjoyment in food. Then when I get to choose and eat food, I trust every impulse I have, even if I’m inclined to eat something that usually wouldn’t be concerned as healthy. I trust that my intuition is improving each time, and that my body knows what it wants. I don’t deny myself any food. I trust that if something isn’t so good for me, I’ll stop craving it at some point. So this is one thing I intend every day before I eat.
The other big thing I intend is me being able to express myself fully in front of people, fearlessly, to be true to myself, and to enjoy the company of a lot of people.
Now for the advice I’d like to hear from you. Should I add this monthly challenge as well, even though I’m already working on these 2 areas? First I thought about having something from these 2 areas as this month’s challenge, but I can’t think of anything. They are both progressive areas, hard to precisely measure. Would it be too much?
Hi Z,
those sound like great goals.
No, I don’t think at all that it would be too much to add this monthly goal. The health one sounds like it’s simple enough for you to intend, and doesn’t require a lot of energy. The other, as you say, is a progressive goal, so will improve over time.
I think setting a monthly goal would give you a good sense of momentum, so you feel you are moving forward.
I see, thank you. I’ll try to think of a goal that my intuition would agree with, and that would fit those 3 criteria. I like them, by the way. 🙂
Also, I have some questions regarding this monthly challenge in general.
As far as I have understood, we’d choose a goal that we’d like to have at the end of the month, and the goal may happen sooner or later than the actual end. In other words, there is no precise date. How about if there is an event on a specific day, and we choose a monthly goal that’s fixed to that date? For example, if someone is attending a gathering or a party on a certain day roughly a month from now, so the actual day of the manifestation is known, and the manifestation can be something tied to the actual day and actual event? Does the whole monthly goal still apply?
Another thing would be this. It has something to do with influencing other people, but let me describe it. For example, there is a TV show that aired like 16 years ago, and there is one beautiful song that appeared in some episodes. The singer and/or the staff or whoever has never released that song for purchase. It’s an incredibly beautiful song, but it can’t be found anywhere, not even for downloading. Could I possibly set a (monthly) goal that the song gets released, so I could finally be able to listen to it? I have no connections with the people who are related to that song and its production. I guess that the Universe would have to inspire them to release it finally. Or, there might be another way, since the Universe has an infinite array of ways to make things happen. What do you think?
Okay, I have another question. haha sorry
Let’s say there is an item I want. If I would I intend to have this item, it’s very likely that it would come through my parents, i.e. they would probably end up buying it for me. Would it be okay if I intended this item with a condition of not coming via my family? I mean, no-one from my family would pay for it. Now that’s a perfect bit of a stretch, or should I say, challenging, and it fits the other 2 criteria as well. Do you think that putting limitations like this would work? I would generate positive feelings of challenge, not negative feelings of screaming no to the idea of it coming through my family. I mean, the Universe has countless ways of bringing this item to me, and my family is probably the path of least resistance for me in this case, but I’d really like to explore like this. 🙂
Hi Z,
This one is a little complicated. Generally, I’m hesitant to close any paths at all of your manifestation getting to you. When I first started manifesting abundance, the path of least resistance was through the work Christine was doing. At first I really tried to focus on it coming in another way, namely through me.
But the more I tried, the more I was pushing against the current path, and so nothing else could open up for me.
I talked to a great coach around the time who told me that I should never try to shut a door for abundance, because it would just shut all the other doors. Instead, I should be honestly grateful for what I was receiving, and work on my manifestation as well.
So, my first instinct is to say that you should allow for your manifestation to come through whatever means the Universe sees best.
But… if you say that your feeling on the matter would truly be positive, and not one of resistance or pushing against, then I don’t necessarily see a problem. But, I would be very observant of how you feel about it.
I think I get what you mean. I could intend it coming in a surprising way (without me trying to figure how), but if it ends up coming up through my parents, then there should be acceptance and gratefulness anyway, instead of considering it as a failure and pushing against it, right? Thank you for all the help today. 😀
Yes, exactly. Intending it to come in a (pleasantly) surprising way sounds like a great idea.
And it’s no problem at all. 🙂
Thanks, Z. I’m glad you like the criteria. I think all three are important, and not only for a monthly goal, but for any manifestation.
Yeah, you can do these however you want. I just like tying it to the month because it’s a clear, definitive date (the last day of the month). Plus, there’s never an end of months, so you get chance after chance to meet your goal.
But, you can certainly tie it to a particular date if you like. The rules would really be the same as for a monthly goal.
All I can say is, try it and find out.
I recently did a similar manifestation. There was a certain piece of budgeting software that I really loved, but wasn’t accessible on desktop. I wanted to manifest that they would release a web version. For years they kept saying they were going to, but none was forthcoming.
So recently I decided it would be my manifestation. And, last month I looked and now they have a web version. It took more than a month to manifest, but if you have the confidence, then it is certainly feasible.
Wow that really sounds awesome!! It’s very similar to this issues with the song, so it would be cool to try it. 😀
I’ll think about it and see. Just thinking about these challenges makes me excited. Thank you!

Okay, another question. lol
However I think that these questions and answers will be helpful to others. Could a person use this monthly goal to obtain something that requires them to get inspired? For example, if a person decides that in 1 month from now, they will have created an art piece as a present for someone. Or write a poem, or compose a music piece, etc. Will aligning with the goal cause the Universe to inspire the person all the way until the completion, first as an idea of what to create, and then as the drive for the actual creation?
Hi Z,
Yes, absolutely I believe that would be a great option. It doesn’t necessarily need to be a month, either, but could be any time range one chooses.
But yes, it seems to have the three criteria in place: it is inspiring, believable, and challenging. 🙂
Great, thank you!
Hi Brandon,
Thanks for the two great posts this week. I am going to re-read them often and make sure I use the information. I have just signed up for the Money Manifestation workshop so looking forward to that.
Can you clear one thing up for me. When setting the goal do you use a “soft” date like “by the end of the month” where you’re not actually specifying which month, or do you use “by the end of November”? Some people say not to force the Universe in to a time frame while other people say you can.
If we all had absolutely zero resistance then we wouldn’t need a time frame at all as the manifestation would be instant. Maybe the time frame is needed to give us time to remove any resistance we might have as the manifestation happens immediately it is our receiving that can be the problem.
One of my quickest manifestations was a few months ago. My eldest son was washing our car and I was outside sitting on a bench enjoying the warmth and the sunshine. I decided to manifest a small amount of money, I asked the Universe to manifest £10. Within about fifteen minutes one of our neighbors came out and offered my son £10 to wash one of their cars. He ended up with £12 as he got a tip as well. Wish I had asked for a bit more!!!
Hey Tim,
Thanks so much for your great comment! I appreciate it. And I’m honored you signed up for the class. 🙂
Now to your questions:
When I say the end of the month, I do mean the end of the present month. So I will say “by the end of November”, for instance.
Yes deadlines are one of those things that work really well if you have the confidence, but really, really awfully if you don’t. I never used them much before this point, but my confidence has been up, and I wanted to try it.
I also find that I often manifest better under pressure. It’s just something about knowing that you need to make up that difference in a certain amount of time, that really gets the energy moving. 🙂 For others, that might be paralyzing, but it works wonderfully for me.
Yeah, I’m not surprised about the £10. Likely if it were any larger amount that meant anything to you, it wouldn’t have manifested so quickly. With manifestation, it’s only when you’re truly detached that it starts to happen. That, or you have absolute, unwavering confidence that it will work out.
Hope this helps.

Okay, here’s an off-topic question: Can I use the LOA to check whether a person is deceiving me? So far, my new landlord tried a few sneaky stuff with me, regarding money. I’ve successfully dealt with that, but there is a chance that he’s still playing dirty. So, can I use LOA to bring any deceiving and lies from him to surface, in case there are any such things?
Hi Z,
That’d be called divination, not LOA. I do offer divinatory readings in case you might be interested. The readings via chat start at $20, which is the cheapest.
With LOA itself, there’s really nothing you can do, besides, well, not be a match to deception. 🙂
Thanks. Although, I have a feeling that there should be something I could with LOA to bring to light any possible deception. I remember when one of Melody’s readers wrote that one day she spontaneously appreciated the fact that she had a great, caring boyfriend, and soon after that she found out that he was married.
Does that mean that, if I actively appreciate the apartment and the landlord every day, similar to intending, then anything in disagreement with that positive energy would simply have to float to the surface for me to see?
Hi Z,
It really just depends. As I said, if you’re in alignment with deception, then deception may be present. If you’re not, then it won’t be.
If you worry about being deceived, you’re very possibly in alignment with deception.
I see LOA and divination as fitting together very well. I use both daily.
Would the deception come to light if you appreciate your apartment? Possibly, if you’re able to remove all traces of worry about deception from your vibration.
Hmm, I think I see what you mean. I could appreciate the apartment and the landlord, and decide to trust him, while aligning with beautiful communication between us, and releasing any thoughts and emotions that are suggesting my fear of being deceived. However, would that make me naive? Is there a difference?
Hi Z,
Naive would mean you were a match to being taken advantage of. So, it could or it could not.
As I asked in my last comment, why don’t you just ask the Universe to show you if there’s deception or not? Believe it or not, LOA isn’t the answer to every situation.
Thank you, I’ll try that. Also, I WOULD pay for your services, I am interested and would like to support you, but I have no money influx other than from my parents right now, and even they are not having it easy. Just to make some things clear. 🙂
You deserve to be paid, definitely.
Hi Z,
Oh, don’t worry about it at all. 🙂 I was simply pointing out the usefulness of divination. You can even do it yourself, and it can be as simple as asking for a sign of whether there is deception or not. Try to keep a neutral mindset while asking for the sign, or else you can influence the outcome.
Why don’t you just ask the Universe to show you if there’s deception? That seems like a fair option.

So, I have a monthly goal, and I’ve been doing everything you’ve suggested, for several days now. There’s only been a bit of a resistance coming up, but everything’s going pleasantly. So, a question popped inside of my mind. If I intend a goal a month after intending it for the first time, and after several days I don’t feel any resistance with it, then if indeed there is no resistance left, will the manifestation:
a) possibly come way sooner than those 30 days, since there wasn’t much resistance to begin with, and it’s all gone now, or
b) even though it could theoretically come much earlier than 30 days, it won’t because intending it to come after 30 days will delay it from coming much sooner?
Honestly, I’m not wondering like where is it already, or anything like that. I’m not desperate to get it or anything. However, a part of me is wondering if setting it to the end of the month is delaying it, and I could move on to something else. haha
That’s because I chose a manifestation that doesn’t evoke much resistance in me.
Hi Z,
If you’re bored with the goal, you could always increase it.
It’ll come when it comes, really. It could come sooner, regardless of your timeline. That’s why I always say “by the end of the month”. That means any time prior to the end of the month.
Ahh thanks! You cleared up a misunderstanding I had. I’m glad that it works the way you described it.
