You create your own reality, every single day. This is a fact.
But, there’s so much more to it than this. What, exactly, does it mean to create? How does the act of creation work, and how, precisely, do you receive your manifestations?
I find that people misunderstand the process of creation. Because, much more of your time actually goes into the receiving of your reality, rather than the creating of it.
Creation is actually the easiest step, though it sounds like the hardest.
I’ll show you in this post how these two parts of the manifestation process work together.
How Do You Create?
The mind is inherently creative in nature. You are inherently a creative being, from the very day you were born.
Thoughts create. We know this already with the law of attraction.
However, some seem to believe that creation is a drawn-out process. It is not.
Creation is instantaneous, always. The moment you hold a thought of what you would like to experience, it is done. It is created already.
We are such good creators that we are constantly doing it unconsciously. Look around you now at the things you have in life. Every one of those things were created, by you.
Look around at your relationships. Every one of those were also created, by you.
And look at your own body, and the way it functions. It was completely created, by you.
Finally, look at your frustrations, your fears, your suffering. That, too, was completely created, by you.
You’ve created it all, and most of it unconsciously.
So it’s not about learning how to create. It’s about learning how to create what you would like to create.
Receiving Your Creations
Now, if every thought is creative, then why don’t you have your desired manifestation, yet?
Very simple: you are not allowing it to come to you.
In other words, you are holding some resistance. You are running some subconscious program that is not permitting this creation to enter your reality.
So your question should not be, “How can I create?” but instead, “How can I receive?”
The thing is, the act of receiving is so incredibly simple, that many people try to overcomplicate it.
It doesn’t matter if you visualize, or affirm, or do anything else.
Really the most important thing is that you clear the resistance to your goal.
Imagine there is a great deal of water held back by the wall of a dam. The water doesn’t need to do anything. It has all the resources necessary to move where it needs to go. The only thing that needs to happen is for the wall to come down, and the water will immediately take the path of least resistance.
Your creation is like that water. It will naturally come to you, but you are currently erecting a wall that is holding it back. Take down that wall, and the desire will come to you almost instantly.
That’s why Step 1 of my Effortless Manifestation Process is by far the most important process. It is easily 90% of the “work”. (I put work in quotes because this really shouldn’t feel like work.)
Tuning In to Your Creation
Another analogy is that of a radio. You have the option of, firstly, which frequency you tune in to, and secondly, how clear that signal is (how much or little static there is).
Choosing the station is easy. But, most of the work is going to be in tuning precisely enough that the signal is clear, with minimal static.
Setting Your Frequency
The frequency you tune to is like choosing your goal. What would you like to be moving towards? What desire would you like to hold in your consciousness?
This is the easiest step. This is when you decide your goal. You say something like, “I choose to manifest $1,000,” or “I allow $1,000 to effortlessly enter my reality.” I’m just using $1,000 as an example.
The moment you decide on that, a signal is created that exactly matches the essence of this desire. It would be like a new radio station being instantly formed the moment you decide what kind of music you want to listen to.
Then you feel the feeling of it. “What would it feel like if I had $1,000?” You enter deeply into that feeling, and allow more details to come to you.
If it feels comfortable, you might even visualize at this point, though it’s not absolutely necessary. But, you can play around with the details. You can ask yourself, “What would it look like if I had $1,000?”
Imagine the check being written out. Imagine depositing that check. Or, imagine all the things you’d spend it on. Really build up the wanting of that desire.
This lets the Universe, as well as your own subconscious mind, know what you are creating.
The goal is to take on the consciousness of this desire, as purely as possible.
You take on the consciousness of it by entering into the feeling as deeply as possible.
At this point, it’s okay if there’s some resistance, because that is the next step of tuning our radio….
Getting a Clear Signal
Now, this is the part that most people struggle with.
You have the feeling of your desire. But, you also have resistance popping up. You have sensations of stress or tightness in your body. You have thoughts about why it’s not possible to have this desire. You imagine it going all wrong.
At this point, on the Wanting/Having Spectrum, you’re closer to the end of wanting.
Recall from last week’s podcast that wanting and having are mutually exclusive. In our radio analogy, the more static you have, the less signal you have. If you increase the static, you decrease the signal. If you increase the signal, you decrease the static. They cannot coexist.
Remember I said you want to hold this desire as purely as possible. This is where you purify your desire. It has a lot of static (resistance) at this point, and you need to tune in to that signal more precisely.
Resistance is actually your friend here. As you hold that desire, your subconscious notifies you of what resistance you are holding that blocks this desire from entering into your reality.
If you fight the resistance, or give in and believe in what it’s telling you, then that resistance gets stronger. In other words, you’ve just increased the static. You’re wanting more than having. I just love how all of these analogies play so well together. 🙂
But, if you accept that resistance, and allow it to be without fighting it, then it will naturally leave on its own. Static is diminished, and so you enter more deeply into the having of your desire.
Receiving Your Manifestation
It becomes a cycle of the above two steps:
- Enter deeply into the feeling of this desire
- Effortlessly release any and all resistance that pops up
Each time you release some resistance, you enter more deeply into your manifestation. You take on the consciousness of it more fully.
Again, resistance is mutually exclusive to holding your manifestation. You cannot have both at once. You must choose decisively to let go of all resistance.
But, it’s not a race. That resistance will happily come up to the surface to be released, as I said above. It wants to go. The holding of this manifestation has just given it the opportunity to be triggered, so that you can release it.
The thing is, you have to be paying more attention to your manifestation than to the resistance. If there’s some heavy resistance, it can be easy to get caught up in it.
You have to be so focused on holding the feeling of this manifestation, that you are not caught up by the resistance that comes up to the surface.
You have to believe in your own ability as a creator. If doubt comes up, just release that, like any other resistance.
It really is simple, if you stick to this process. Keep releasing, and keep going deeper into the manifestation.
Give It to Yourself, First
But, you have to be willing to have it within, first. You can’t tune to a radio station if you won’t choose what you want to listen to, first. If you refuse to even turn the radio on, then you won’t be getting the results you expect.
The Universe will not, and cannot, send you what you want, unless and until you feel it within yourself first, free of resistance.
If you must wait for it to come for you to be happy, then it will never come.
Be happy, and then the manifestation will come.
Happiness must be rooted within yourself deeply. Whether the manifestation comes or not, you must keep that unconditional state of peace and allowing.
This is where resistance becomes a bit subtle, and the Wanting/Having Spectrum can be useful.
Remember, ultimately it is the feeling that you desire. You want what you want because of what you think it’ll make you feel. So feel it first, then the things that match that feeling can come to you.
So, I recommend taking time at least once or twice per day to just enter into the feeling of this manifestation, and going deeper as you release resistance.
After that, your work is done. There is nothing else that needs to be done by you. If actions are necessary, they will become clear. But, stop trying to figure it out, and just release and go deeper.
This is how you receive your reality. As I said, it’s quite simple. But you must do the inner work to completely let go of all attachments to this desire, so you can fully take on the consciousness of it, and then it will come to you easily.
How About You?
Now it’s your turn. How would this understanding of allowing and receiving your manifestation change your approach to the law of attraction? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.

I’d really appreciate it if you could clear something for me. So let’s say there is a limiting belief about a subject in my subconscious. I get into the feeling of my desire, and soon I feel the resistance (negative emotion coming up). This negative emotion is due to a belief that I can’t have that what I want. If I allow the energy to be expressed and move on, does that mean that the belief is automatically overwritten in my subconscious? That is, if I allow the energy, and later I think about the subject, I will suddenly be believing that I can have it, without having actively chosen better feeling thoughts? In other words, instead of changing the belief by steadily choosing thoughts that feel better, and then those than feel even better, and so on, it got changed automatically by just allowing the resistance (energy) to be expressed?
Z,
Yes, that’s exactly correct. I’m not saying the whole belief would go on the first try, but yes it would get weaker and weaker as you allow it fully.
It’s only your insistence on fighting the belief that makes it stronger. All you need to do to release it is to allow it fully. In other words, say “yes” to the resistance, instead of continuing to say “no”.
I would recommend sticking around to see my posts in the near future, as I’ll be discussing this topic in much more detail. Also, I’ll be doing a free webinar next Saturday, August 13, which will demonstrate this exact topic. You can register here:

That’s really amazing, that just by allowing the energy, the belief is getting changed. It’s like a positive brainwashing haha. But this is such a relief. I imagined that one would first activate the vibration of what they want, then resistance would pop up, then one would have to sit with the feeling and wait until they figure out what belief caused that negative experience, and then one would have to work up the ladder. And so on with every belief. However, if all that gets taken care of just by detaching from the negative emotion that pops up, and allowing it, without the rest of the “procedure”, then everything gets so much easier! It’s like, when the energy flows out of me, the memory in my brain of that belief gets erased, kind of like amnesia, right?
Brandon, thank you a lot for your explanation and help!
Yeah, it is a lot easier. I think people overcomplicate this so much. If you approach life with an attitude of complete allowing, then resistance will be released immediately as it comes up to the surface.
I wouldn’t say like amnesia, as you’ll still have the memory. But, it won’t have its emotional content so strongly, and the subconscious won’t believe it anymore. You get to tell the subconscious what to believe and what not to believe. You just have to learn the most effective ways of doing so.
Happy to help. 🙂 Glad it makes sense.
Brandon, do you think that, the more resistance comes up and is allowed (released) daily, the more tired the body will be? That would explain why I have been tired lately, but I wonder if that’s the case.
Actually, I think it is the opposite. I think your body will be tired if you fight a lot of resistance. But if you allow it, I think you will be more rejuvenated.
Also, you might want to listen to last week’s podcast on the Wanting/Having Spectrum. I talk about this a little more there.
I’ve done this within minutes. After entering deeply into the feeling, and releasing all resistance, it feels much more possible than previously. You’d be surprised how quickly it can change.
I think this is really a great concept and I was blown away by this really different concept of dealing with resistance by allowing it as soon as it comes up. Esther Hicks/Abraham have quite a few good talks on allowing, but it’s more geared towards receiving and allowing and not a lot is said about resistance. This is taking each desire and having clear linear steps to take in order to manifest it. I find that Abraham gets very conceptual and it will sound great, but then when the video is over, I am often left sort of hanging. Like, ‘yeah, right, great, you explained why so well, but could you be more specific here in the how?’
The only thing to watch out for is possibly all the years of resistance we’ve built up and Brandon does say it may not be overnight, but I tried it out with a relatively small desire for an amount of money, and what happened was I immediately got excited which brought out resistance which I then allowed. I actually felt a feeling of relief when I let the resistance in and didn’t fight it. Then I went back to the feeling and felt very clear in my body and mind. It was quite amazing. But I’m wondering if this would be a long and difficult process with big desires that one might have been wanting for a long time. Would the resistance be equal to the wanting which would then trigger so much resistance that it would take a lot of time to really allow it all and get to the cleared having stage?
But great article and so clearly and easily understood in the writing.
Thanks so much, Frann.
I don’t think it’d take that long, if you are dedicated to it. I have now started asking my clients, prior to working on their goal, “Are you willing to make happiness more important than this goal, so that you can be happy even if the goal doesn’t come?”
I find that if they aren’t willing to make that commitment, then it won’t work for them. Because, they are seeking happiness in the goal, and the goal can’t give them happiness.
But, Lester Levenson, the man who used The Release Technique to basically release all resistance, was able to complete it within a three-month period. Granted, it was day-in and day-out, but still, if he could release all resistance from every situation in his life in three months, I feel like we can release resistance from a specific goal, if committed to the process, within no more than a few days.
However, if you feel like there is too much resistance, then try choosing a smaller, more believable goal. For instance, instead of choosing to be a millionaire, try to choose just making a bit extra money than you do right now. Something that’s a stretch, but still mainly believable.
