What if negative manifestations were actually a beneficial part of the manifestation process? What if you didn’t have to be scared of them popping up in your reality unexpectedly? What if you could welcome them as the friends they are?
I know, perhaps this seems far-fetched. But, once you come to understand negative manifestations for what they really are, you will come to see that the Universe is actually conspiring to give you what you want, as quickly and as effortlessly as possible.
It’s only you that holds your desires out of your reach.
Read on to learn how exactly this is true.
Why Do Negative Manifestations Arise?
First, I want to explore why exactly negative manifestations arise.
Of course, negative manifestations are the manifestation of your resistance. This we all know, but it’s good to start with the basics.
But why? Why do they need to come up in such an abrupt way as they often do?
This answer is more interesting, and one that I think a lot of people ignore.
Essentially, you have lots of chances to notice that you are headed in the wrong direction, and turn things around. It’s only when you refuse to face it sooner that the negative manifestation has to arise.
Far before a negative manifestation appears in your outer reality, your own emotional guidance system has been blaring alarm bells left and right. The stronger the resistance, the more your emotional guidance system told you that something is definitely wrong here.
But, you didn’t listen to that warning, and you kept your same focus, which made your resistance bigger and bigger.
This is why I advocate so much for developing a constant awareness of your own emotional guidance system. When you realize you are feeling negatively, you have the time to turn that around, before it gets bigger. If you are especially in tune with it, you’ll catch it right when it just begins to get bigger, so it is that much easier to turn around.
So, why do negative manifestations arise?
Simply, because you ignored your emotional guidance system, which was telling you that you were focusing on something that didn’t feel good to you.
The more you focus on what doesn’t feel good to you, the more that negative manifestations show up in your reality.
Your Negative Manifestations Aren’t Your Enemy
Okay, so you focus in a way that doesn’t feel good, and you get manifestations that don’t feel good. This is pretty basic.
But how can these negative manifestations possibly be of any aid to us?
A lot of people treat them as an enemy.
They think, “This negative manifestation must mean I’m on the wrong path. It has to mean I’m really messing things up.”
So, they use the negative manifestation as an excuse to feel even worse, which will result in—you guessed it—more negative manifestations.
It’s an ugly cycle that can be hard to break, if you don’t have an understanding of why this negative manifestation arose in the first place.
They are not here to show you how wrong you are. They are not here to demonstrate that you are failing at manifesting. They’re not even here to show you that you can’t have what you want.
That couldn’t be further from the truth.
Negative Manifestations Aren’t Lessons or Tests
Another common misconception is that a negative manifestation is a “lesson” sent by your higher self, or religious people might say, a test from God.
Once you learn the lesson, or pass the test, then you can have your desire. You’ve been a good spiritual seeker and learned what you had to learn, so now you can be rewarded.
This is an extremely disempowering way of seeing the Universe, because this is not about rewards, punishments, lessons, or tests.
This is about you having the power to create exactly whatever it is you want.
There is no one who is going to tell you, “No, you can’t have this until you learn this lesson.”
There is no one who is going to make you jump through hoops to get what you want.
These are all outdated ideas that keep us in a disempowered mindset.
You are not here to learn lessons. You are here to have fun, to expand, to experience more and more, greater and greater things.
Some people will point to their unwanted situation and say, “This must be because I have to learn a lesson in this life. That’s why I came here.” Or they’ll say, “I am being punished for some past karma.”
But again, all of that is untrue.
Yes, you came with certain challenges in mind. But this was not in order to keep you in that unwanted situation. It was so that you could manifest a new and even greater reality for yourself.
If you are thirsty, you don’t say it must be a lesson so that you can experience what it’s like to thirst. You don’t say that you must have had bad karma, so being thirsty is your punishment.
You say you’re thirsty, so you’re going to get some water.
And, the thirstier you are now, the better that water will taste.
How Your Negative Manifestations Can Help You
Now, I’ve told you several things that negative manifestations are not.
But what are they, actually? How can they help us?
The first thing to understand is that negative manifestations are just a natural result of focusing on a negative vibration.
It’d be sort of like asking the lesson behind your car’s fuel gauge showing empty.
It’s just the natural result of not filling your car up with gas.
And if you keep ignoring it, it’ll run out of gas, which will be an even bigger sign of you ignoring that sign.
A negative manifestation is just your resistance getting bigger.
However, it is also here to help us. Everything in the Universe is here to help us.
So how can it help you?
Your negative manifestation is telling you why your desire hasn’t come yet.
You see, the Universe is always taking you towards your desires.
But, if you are holding on to something that prevents that desire from coming to you, you’re going to feel that more and more, and it is going to manifest in bigger and bigger ways in your reality.
So when a negative manifestation arises, it is essentially telling you, “Hey, this is why your desire hasn’t come yet. You have to take care of this first.”
It is a bigger, bolder way of telling you, “You were focused on something that didn’t feel good to you, and here is the result.”
Isn’t that useful? You never have to guess if you were focused on something that felt good or not.
Your emotional guidance system will tell you. And if you don’t listen to that, then your negative manifestation will tell you even louder.
That’s really all there is to this.
So if you are working on manifesting more money in your life, and suddenly a financial crisis comes up, you can immediately tell that you were focused in a way that isn’t helpful to you.
And once you know this, then you can take the necessary steps to create a new reality.
Every Experience Helps You to Move Towards Your Desires
This really is a beautiful system. I’m overcome with the perfection of it all when I think about this.
When positive experiences come up, you know that you were focused on good-feeling thoughts. You know that if you do more of the same, you’ll get even bigger results that feel good.
On the other hand, if a negative manifestation arises, you know that you were focused on a bad-feeling thought, and that if you keep focusing in this way, you’ll get bigger results that feel bad.
So isn’t it fascinating that everything is here to help you to reach your desires?
Because, as you notice those negative manifestations, as a result of your own resistance, and you change your focus, then things will almost immediately begin to shift.
Actually, they will immediately shift, in the form of you feeling better. That is the law of attraction showing you that you are manifesting something that is closer to what you want.
Of course, if you instead choose to focus on this negative manifestation, and all the bad feelings it evokes in you, then that, too, will get bigger and bigger, until you start paying attention.
Either way, the experience is here to help you.
It is here to show you that you have some more letting go to do.
The Universe Is Always Taking You Towards Your Desires
As I said, the Universe is constantly bringing you closer and closer towards all your desires.
There is no exception to this.
The moment you have a desire, the Universe sets about finding the easiest, quickest way of getting there.
But as the universal flow brings you towards that desire, it is going to trigger your limiting beliefs, because they are blocking you from having your desire right now.
So, this is useful information to have. And you can obtain it easily, just by paying attention to your own manifestations.
This means that you are never off your path.
You are always moving towards your desires. You are always improving and evolving.
What If Your Negative Manifestations Were Your Friends?
More than just containing useful information though, what if they were actively trying to help you?
If they didn’t come up at all, then you’d certainly never know that you were headed in the wrong direction.
But if you are always on your path, then they are really your greatest helpers.
If you are getting positive manifestations, that’s great. That’s a sign that you are very close, if not there already.
But, if negative manifestations are showing up, it is a wonderful sign that you need to change direction.
Way too many people see this as a bad thing—as the Universe telling them they can’t have what they want.
But again, you can always have what you want.
But these negative manifestations are simply telling you, you need to focus differently.
Again, back to the car fuel gauge metaphor. If you yell at the fuel gauge for showing it is low on gas, then you aren’t going to accomplish anything.
But if you decide to listen, and go fill up the car, then you’ve heeded the advice of the fuel gauge.
And so, if you like, you can get angry at the Universe for bringing up this negative manifestation.
Or, you can see it as the sign it is, and do what you need to do to move in a different direction.
If you got angry with the GPS every time it told you to follow a certain direction, would you ever reach your destination?
The GPS is trying to help you to reach your destination. It is telling you which direction to go to reach your destination. And when you’ve made a wrong turn, it tells you so, and corrects your course again.
Is the GPS bad because it corrects you for making a wrong turn? No, it’s just the sign that you aren’t going in the right direction. If you stubbornly go in that direction anyway, then you shouldn’t be surprised to end up somewhere completely different than you expected.
So, if you instead listen to your negative manifestations, and take them as the sign they are, then you will reach your desire all the same.
You Are Always On Your Path
Isn’t it great that you’re always on your path?
If you turn off it, you’ll be notified immediately.
First, with your emotional guidance system.
But if you don’t listen to that, then the negative manifestations will get bigger and bigger, until you finally turn back on your path.
You can never get lost. You can never be unaware of where you are.
Because, as long as you are headed towards feeling better, then you know for a fact that you are headed towards your desires.
Stop seeing these negative manifestations as, well, something negative to be avoided.
See them as necessary guideposts, showing you when you’ve turned off your path.
And they will happily show you, in bigger and bigger ways. Because, the Universe wants you to reach your destination.
Is it somehow cruel to allow these negative manifestations to show up in your reality?
Of course not, not anymore than it is cruel for a GPS to tell you you’ve made a wrong turn, and it has to recalculate your route.
If you want to stop experiencing negative manifestations, then stop turning towards what feels worse, and instead start turning towards what feels better, again and again.
That’s the only solution. There is no other.
Turn towards what feels better, and the negative manifestations will have accomplished their purpose.
The Universe Is Conspiring to Give You What You Want
This is a wonderfully-feeling perspective to me.
What if the Universe actually were doing everything possible to give you what you want, as easily and as quickly as possible?
I think it is absolutely true.
Why? It should be obvious by now.
The universal flow brings you directly to your desires, if you allow it.
If you don’t allow it, then you are notified of this fact, first through your emotional guidance system. And if you don’t listen to this sign, then it will get bigger and bigger.
With all this in mind, it’s actually very hard to not get what you want.
But, only if you treat negative manifestations as they were intended: as helpers along the path.
If you see them as something real and unchanging, and you focus more and more on them, then they’ll just get bigger.
But if you listen, and you change your focus to feel a bit better, then you’ll quickly be on your way once again.
Really, you are always on your way. You can’t stop the universal flow.
All you can do is fight it. But why would you want to?
How About You?
Now I’d love to hear from you. What do you think about seeing your negative manifestations as helpers along the path? How would this change your own approach to the law of attraction? Let me know in the comments.

Oh yes, you negative manifestations definitely help you discern your resistance, and what you need to work on. Once you understand what they are, it is a great help to have them, because, you can catch them at stage two or three before you start seeing signs of them.
For me, I was able to trace them back to tell whether or not I was listening to my higher self at certain times in my life, and I can find the spots where I wasn’t. It makes things a little easier to discern my feelings, and spiritual guidance. I know what to listen for when god is speaking.

So true, Justin! Yes catch them at stages 2 or 3 if possible. Stage 5 negative manifestations are a bit ugly and hard to ignore, depending on the momentum of that manifestation.

I just received the reassurance I was after. Thanks Brandon
This morning while training at my gym, I decided against the fake happiness I usually put on as it leaves me feeling drained, like I’m trying too hard to be liked or trying to hard to have fun. Instead it felt better to put on my headphones and listen to great music while training.
While I enjoyed my change in actions, it confused me why this act made me feel better until I realised that talking to others and forcing my reality to represent fun was not actually real fun. I guess faking it to make it isn’t always the answer.
I feel like there’s this undercurrent of emotions that just wants to be and not be the happy jolly girl all the time. Maybe I’m doing some balancing act. Oddly, I keep getting signs about balance, your comment to me on another blog was the first.
So anyway, I’m not sure of the why’s but I’m following what feels good. Your blog post really reassured me that I can stop thinking “why” it felt better and to just go with what feels better without question. It will make sense soon enough.
Thanks for your comment Samantha!
I find that the “why” is rarely useful. Just accepting what is and moving on is usually the best course of action.
“Fake it until you make it” is not a good approach, as you’ve found. You might be able to fake it to others, but the Universe always knows what you are really feeling within.
Your emotions: you need to fully allow all emotions. That doesn’t mean to focus on them and make them get bigger. But let them know that it is okay to be. And, naturally, they will dissipate.
The reason is that negative emotions are really just a manifestation of resistant focus. When you stop resisting, then the negative emotion dissolves on its own.
And, it also just might be that you’re trying to be a person that you’re not, really. You’re trying to be social and outgoing when you’d love just to be in your own bubble.
Respect the path of least resistance. Do what feels best. 🙂
I’m glad you enjoyed the post.

Oh my goodness. So much in this post!
I know I must embrace where I am and surrender and accept it in order to move on. Feel better about it. It’s not as bad as I make it out to be. After all, this is where my negativity and thus negative manifestations have led me. The next best step is to feel better about where I am.
But I must ask. If the Universe granted you something but you took another path instead full of adventure and then realize the first path granted suited you just fine, what do you do? Keep going where you are and it will work out like it always has? That is how it’s been for me this far. I have clarified more to myself what I want and the Universe knows, so I will just proceed following the signs as I go, per usual. Does this sound ok?
Thanks for your comment A. 🙂
As I said in the post, you are always on your path. You can’t possibly take a wrong path.
yes you can take some round-about paths, but it’s not like there is one and only one fork in the road, and if you miss that one opportunity, your doomed forever.
The Universe is always guiding you towards what you want.
Think of it like a GPS. If you make a wrong turn, does the GPS just give up on you and say, “Sorry, you’re on your own”?
Obviously not! It just recalculates your route from your new location, and you’re still on the road to getting there.
I’m not a fan of this word, “grant”. It sounds like the Universe is some all-knowing being that is rewarding us with certain things if we ask in the right way or think the right thoughts.
It’s more helpful to think of it as a totally mechanical, automatic process. It has no biases. It has no judgments. Just like that GPS, it will always keep recalculating your route, because that’s how it works.
So if you made a “wrong” turn, oh well. Just keep going. You can never turn back, so don’t try. There are no U-turns here. 🙂
I hope this helps.
